Once I realized it was on the disk image, I tried to install it, but it complained about already being installed (I have RFRK which apparently installed it already). I tried loading the new .lic file into the existing install, but it wouldn't work. Finally, I just temporarily renamed the existing /users/Shared/NextLimit folder to NextLimit_old, and the install ran file.
After rebooting everything seems to be working now for MR3, but now I'm concerned I've screwed up my ability to use RFRK. How can I re-install the old RFRK license into the new RLM lm install?
BTW, the licensing instructions are wrong in multiple places w.r.t. OSX install and so forth. Even the dialog in the license activator makes reference to "selecting the checkbox to install the RLM license manager", which isn't valid for OSX. I was okay once JD pointed me to the image on the DMG -- it was off-screen initially, so all I saw was the "drag the folder" part and based on past use presumed that was all there was there. Still, other Mac floating-license users are definitely going to have the same issues, I suspect.
A clear, detailed set of Mac-specific license manager install/activation instructions is needed. Also, it'd be nice if the licensing troubleshooting page were something more than "page not found" in the release notes. Finally, for folks like me with pre-existing RLM license manager installs on OSX, instructions on how to add a new, unactivated MR3 license into the existing config (or to install the new lm version upgrading existing, and then activate MR3) is needed, as it is now, the docs are really unclear in that situation.
JD, Mihail, thanks for the help with this!
