Any features you'd like to see implemented into Maxwell?

I have a problem in that I use Maxwell both at my studio and at a client's office on both Macs and Windows. I keep all my data on dropbox, and have access to my files everwhere.

Either through my bad habits or lack of knowledge, my library of mxm's has become difficult to work with in this situation.

I have set the path on all the computers to search for mxm's and textures. The problem is that I keep my mxm's in subfolders and the program doesn't see the textures folder if it's located in a nested folder.

I wonder if we could have a button in the preferences to search subfolders within the path specified for mxm's? Or if there's something obvious I'm missing I'd love to learn how to handle things in this situation.

BTW, I'm using Maxwell with both Bonzai and 3dStudio Max, and the problem occurs with both programs and both OS's.

Thanks,

Rick

Maxwell/Studio will also look in a subfolder called 'textures', so you could try naming the subfolder to that. Here is a list of paths Maxwell/Studio go through when searching for textures :

I usually just keep all textures in one large folder though, also it helps to avoid texture duplicates since a lot of materials may use the same bumps/layer weights etc. I just create a folder structure for the mxm files themselves.

Mihai,

That's what I was afraid was happening. I have lots of mxm's and would like to keep all the bricks in one subfolder, stones in another, glass, emitters etc.

Here's a screen grab from formZ's version of this dialog. Note the "Search in Nested Folders" checkbox at the bottom. That's what I'd love to see (first time uploading an image here, hope it works)

Thanks,

did you tried luxCore?
