Ok I know this is *way* out there.......... I sometimes frequent a decent wine shop and the buzz is that the Spanish reds are rather good. Which is probably part marketing on their part (got a good deal on a boat load)and more than half a nod to the fact that Spanish red wine is world class.
So my question is.........
Can you suggest something of medium body by region, vineyard or producer?
And I have to admit I commit the travesty of putting a bit of ice in my glass.
I appreciate your suggestions.

when you say spanish... do you mean Spain, or do you also mean Latin-American wines too?

I'm particularly interested in the red wines of Spain.
We see quite a bit of good Chilean wine around here. Particualry white. I suppose they keep the good reds to themselves, just as I would.
I favor the red table wines of Italy. In my ignorance I default to a good chianti.
So I am open to suggestions.

Spain has a long history of producing some really great red wines, I particularly like the wines from the northern regions of Rioja and the Ribera del Duero, which at their best give the wines of Bordeaux a run for the money. Some producers/labels to look out for from these areas are…. Artadi, La Rioja Alta, Marqués de Murrieta, Marqués de Riscal, Muga, Marqués de Cáceres, López de Heredia.

Allways is better Crianza (2 years of oak barrel), reserva (2 years oak barrel + 1 year in bottle), or gran reserva (2 years in barrel + 2 years in bottle)

This is a table with the best "añadas" (year of the wine)

In a 1-10 scale, R=4 (fair), B=6 (good), MB=8 (very good), and E=10 (excellent)

Brunellos, been to Italy and brought a couple of bottles! That's great wine and Montalcino is definitely a charming town...

Yes, cost is obviously a factor. I have been cheated out of winning the Lotto every day for decades. That's probably not going to change any time soon.
I like a list that includes wines above my usual spending habits, so when a special occassion comes along, one is prepared. Anticipation is a joy in itself.
