Please post here anything else (not relating to Maxwell technical matters)

Thanks Tom, I forgot about that... I don't want to argue but I guess that you have to admit that it just doesn't work as it used to and generally it doesn't work like most of the other renderers as WillMartin describes at the link you wrote.

Anyway, enough with the bumpmaps... Let's see something new
(past, present, future ...)

I don't know if you’re looking for a list of things that Maxwell should have in the future but here is mine.

Instancing is something that Maxwell needs as well as some way to bake lighting into a scene and a better way to handle animations other than exporting a MXS for every single frame. It also needs a better way of managing noise either through and increase in speed or some kind of noise reduction process. A material converter would be a good idea for those models that don't come with Maxwell materials.

Thanks Maxer, a very interesting list, although I would like to see a comparison between old Maxwell (alpha, beta) and Maxwell today and of course what we want to see in the future. You covered 100% the last part. :wink:

Hi JTB,

those are some interesting threads from Maxwell past for me :wink: :

http://www.maxwellrender.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=4860

i would like to know more about particle rendering (it is not sss),so what was that plan?

http://www.maxwellrender.com/forum/view ... =vol+light

http://www.maxwellrender.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=6849

And about future? For me displacement, 24-hour physical sky with clouds, moon, stars,atmospheric effects and some kind of isotropic and non-isotropic volume effect shader model, instancing, bake lighting and R1 is done :) . Maybe glass-sunlight solution and improved sss will be enough for now.
I am here since alpha, so in my comparsion:
alpha- i liked fog (or some z-tinted pictures), and it was something really new in rendering world
beta-sss and tonemaping (beta had some special mood-beta look :) )
R1.1+ i like materials complexity and all that advanced features that came with R1+ (multilight, simulens, resume render...)

...and i like Maxwell community :D

i agree with the idea of this topic, but:

It shouldn't be in the Off Topic section, they are plenty of wishes in the Wishes section that cover well the subject...

The perfect Maxwell would contain all things users ask (because they need):
- disappeared things that were great;
- all actual things running, and in the same way for all 3D platforms;
- all promised things, some of them for a long time, and if possible this year.

I mostly use 3dsmax, the plug is ok, but not perfect
Some tools are missing (I DONT WANT STUDIO), and there are a few things really really really boring...

And again, sorry for the "annoying words"

Talking generally about what Maxwell was, is and will be includes some wishes but it is not 100% wish lists.That's why it's here.
I use Max and mostly the plugin, I don't need or want Studio but it is pointless to discuss that any more...
Although your list is not very specific :) I agree !
