Please post here anything else (not relating to Maxwell technical matters)

Cheers mate.

Dr Merman, you have to set the rules so that each emitter will work with another, if they are not told to do so, they won't.

I spent yesterday trying to do a cloth sim. Bloody hell that ain't simple. The RF3 video tutes are not 100% relevant due to the upgrades in RF4.

If I tried to run a simulation on a cloth wrapped around a figure, then the verts ended up all over the place. If I ran a single stylised plane then it was pretty good.

I managed to get the cloth to deform around a mesh once, but since an RF crash I haven't managed it again.

The rule & exclusion system is a bit confusing, to say the least.

Saving a file that has errors will render that file unuseable. Two of my working cloth tests have been destroyed due to this. So I keep losing the settings.

I'll post a render as soon as I can get a mesh out of RF4. I've done it before for a fluid, but can't seem to crack it for cloth.

How come they couldn't write a more relevant manual, with specific case studies? So we can search for cloth and the relevant elements are suggested.

Sunlightrocker, very nice. Is that a "slow motion?" It seems that the water would slosh around faster. Maybe it's just me.

Has anybody is the US gone to look for this yet? I just ran over to Barns&Nobles to buy it but all they had was the December copy, but they said they should get the next issue in on Tuesday. Do you think it'll be the X-Mas issue with Realflow?

Chris, .... yes. ...the next issue is the one.

btw: ...if you buy it from something like a Barnes & Noble or Border's , ... we get our issue way later due to the import fact.

..expensive too.

Thanks, I'm glad it takes awhile, otherwise I would have missed it. It looks pretty good actually, maybe I should subscribe. Most of it seems to be tailored towards animators of characters, games, etc. Is there maybe a better publication for someone who does just ArchViz? I mean, some of the techniques would be nice, but not alot of my renderings need fur.

Thanks. :)
Yeah, I know. it looks a bit slow, but it wasnt my intention... :? My best guess is that the scale is of... (not that you really have anything to messure it with in this test... so... I dont know...)Any other ideas? Does someone know if the grid in RF is cm, or what is it?

You should check out the 'architects journal' or Monument magazine, purely for a broad perspective of current trends in archviz rendering........3d world is a 20min skim-read at best, I stopped buying it years ago although I did get the RF demo issue.........the mag is still only threadbare content and a morass of ads, I should've spent the money on beer instead.
