Look at the stange dynamics of the fall In a street brawl or suprise attack, your natural instinct is to stay standing as long as possible - the last thing you do is allow yourself to go down where anything could happen. If instinct was present, rather than training , then Matarazi would have staggered back as he fell. Wayne Rooney is a good example of instinct over training- his instinct as street fighter kept him standing and then , he stood on his tackler's nuts when he got the chance - obviously bad coaching . That was Wayne's mistake after the first tackle went in - he should have fallen , not stayed up 
First thought so aswell, but notice how materazzi's hand is going from a flat to a pinched hold and how zidane reacts all of a sudden. Looks quite obvious to me.
