-nice, waht was the render time> and like nick asked doe sit have a working sky system?

Also IS this VRAY BETA for MAYA?

is there a link to it on the web? are licenses available to purchase?

unless there is a big revolution with maxwell, Esp the animation end.
Maxwell has never supported anything but 24fps,
(i wish maxwell will develop tough, but it seems that they are confused what ppl want, maxwell only seems to be limiting its production to architects and stills, which is a big mistake if they keep ignoring animation- im patiently waiting, gotta lot of other work to keep me busy till jan06)

so if you could post a link to were we could look at vray for maya that would be great to check out, esp if it has no problem with animation

This image was rendered with the Renderdrives using ART's render software. You can't run any other software through them although they do accept RM shaders.

The rendertime was a little high 10 hrs at 3000x2000. But ART are working on this at the moment.

I signed up for the vray beta for maya and got an e-mail back saying it was in my download section. I can't post images at the moment. At present there is no sky system or camera, it is like vray for max was about a year ago. It seems to be able to render animations etc no problem, precalcing etc is included plus I believe the render node lics are free!! which is very coooool. :D

Cheers

Yep it is unbiased....They are not cheap. An RD6400 with 16 processors is £7000 but they are well worth it. There is the pure card as well which is about £2000, this has 16 procs as well. We started with one RD and one Pure card and were so impressed we got more.

There website is http://www.artvps.com

Neil, I thought they (ART) were making only hardware, we are thinking of getting renderdrives for renderfarm.
Do you know if Vray still accept beta testing people? I am interested on that as well.

The renderdrives are hardware, and you use the ART AV5 software to render to them via a thing called net RIB, similar to renderman. There are plugins for both Maya and Max.

I am not sure if they are still looking for beta testers, I found an e-mail address in the announcements section on the vray forum.
