I've just seen an increadible thing. You CAN use MXM materials inside the plugin. That soves everything.. You use the M~Studio to make the materials and use your own software automatically send the images to RENDER.

So, Maxwell studio will be a great material editor and the plugin doesn't need to have all the functionalities because you'll always be able to grab your favorite MXM maerial.
That is good news!
Hi,
This is our target. We do not want to force you to get a certain workflow, but we want you can choose your way for each project or each platform. We will give you a way to let you apply mxm's into your plugin, even a way to launch the material editor as a standalone. It will come very soon, just when we finish the essential areas we are doing now. Btw we are not worried about the quality of the new engine. We are not so silly to say that it is better than the beta in this stage. But obviously if we didnt think it is going to be better we wouldn never modify it. This tests were done with the new engine

The old beta was a cul-de-sac. Some of the clasic wishes (clipmaps, sun and dielectrics..) were almost imposible to solve, and also the render times were too big. This new engine is so better that is impossible to measure. But we need to fix and adjust some parameters before it's ready. We have all almost finished, just need to connect the different modules and fix the bugs. You know that due to the pressure to release M~R it has been released early, but as developer I say that things are running fine. Please be confidence in the people who has done the render with best quality of the world. We are not interested in doing renders with cr**y cg feeling. We have got huge enhancements in the last week and we are going out of the tunnel. Soon you will have the render you deserve.

Cheers,

Juan
Ok, does this also mean that we don´t even have to open up the studio if we don´t want to, and also will be able to use the plugin as a renderer for materials/shaders coming from our primary 3D software, and not the MXS?

Just asking, because non-MXS materials/shaders doesn´t seem to work with the current released c4d-plugin.

That was where we started if memory serves. That preserves the 'simplicity of use' we were sold for Maxwell. Why is so much time being poured into 'studio' then?
Good question, and i perfectly agree!

i like the idea of the studio, it also makes me more independent of buggy plugins...

imagine a new c4d is available and you wait month for an pluginupdate...
with studio you can work all the time.

or if you work like me in more than only one app. you have also the same enviroment.

I don't know if it's been said, but I could really use the Studio for the sake of mapping controls, besides all the materials etc.

Some of the 3D programs on the plugins list do not offer total control over mapping the way that say....3Dmax does (i'm using Solidworks and Rhino). Rhino allows much easier scene setups and quickly moving and positioning objects compared to Solidworks, but rendering is very average.

I am dreaming of the day when I can just use SOlidworks for building all the objects and Maxwell for positioning objects, compositoin, mapping and of course the awesome rendering.

Keep working on Studio !

I definitely don't want Studio. I thought RC1 would be an extension to the Max plugin, you know, faster/cleaner, material editor, and I would have been happy with that, but I can't get Studio to work at all (unless you count b&w grainy crap) and they don't tell you how to install it properly, etc. A pretty poor show from NL. On top of that, they delete some of my posts criticizing their product, which I find inexcuseable.

This is a very liberal forum and people can voice their negative opinions.
During my watch no threads have been deleted... they are only moved to the appropriate section based on forum policy.

(Of course if you push it way way too far and start downright insulting and abusing people left and right (users or not) then section 3 of the policy would become applicable)

Your thread was moved to the off-topic section by the way.
