Hmmm. even this simple scene will not work for me. I could open it, but MStudio said: "preview\defaultpreview\previw.mxs can not be loaded. If I hit ok, i get a blank Studio-layout, without any viewport or editors - just this brounish grey background and the menu. If i load the default layout from the Maxwell-program-folder, I can finally open the scene. But i have no "standard-toolbar (all the button). They are actually there, but the button-bitmaps are gone. Needless to say, that I neither got a proview, nor a render.

polyxo, are you sure your maxwell_root variable is not pointing to mxcl? maxwell_root must be: ...\next limit\maxwell

Hi Rivoli, thanks for answering!
In the control-panel, I have set the root to Maxwell, only the path also has the entry ...Maxwell\mxcl. There's also nothing wrong with the licence, Maxwell recognizes and displays correctly in the splash-screen.

have you try rebooting? or a clean installation?

DIA:
perhaps you are using a low kelvin # in your emitter?
Try with the same power but different color.

A couple of questions:

* How can I see that the preview renderer is still working? (btw: right-click on the preview delivers a couple of options, like quality factors or autopreview)

* are there any materials delivered with "RC"?

* How to submit a bsdf with no documentation at all? It's nice that the new ME could handle great stuff in theory, but at the current state of documentation it's close to a black art

* Is there any reason that the sphere in the preview is not centered? Can one change that preview scene?

* Any why the heck are the preview picts not cached with the materials??? Hello??? I have to use a crappy preview or I have to wait for the good one *each time* I select the material? How is this ever suppose to work with external applications if their libraries don't even support stored preview picts? Please tell me that his isn't true.

Strangely enough I'm not able to adjust the Abbe setting. Am I the only one?

There is a button in the material editor, top right corner "Enable dispersion" ;)

Hover over each button for the label to appear......and you call yourselves developers...pfffffff :P

abbe works, you just have to activate dispersion first. there's a button somewhere, can't point it now cos i have no RC here.

edit:
as always, what mihai said. first.
