Any features you'd like to see implemented into Maxwell?

I know with the recent announcments about what is going on with the code and what not, this may be a dumb idea. But sideFX dose it with houdini, i imagine that it wouldnt be that bad to do, NextLimit must have daily or weekly builds of the plugins and the render engine. Stable or not, it would be cool to see the progression and the pace of development.

Sure be fun to mess around with. I've had this thing for two days now and I'm already anxious to see the Mat Editor, full interface, ect.

I can see a mess with that tho... you'd have to keep all previous builds available so you can rollback to the last "stable" build...

the way Sidefx dose the houdini dailies, is that they have a fixed release version dubed stable, the current one is 8.0.410, ti is a section called Production Build, then below the production build section is a set of links to daily builds, that way if you are feeling lucky you can update each day and hope nothing has been broken bu a misplaced character, and if it has been you can roll back. its pretty cool. alot of open source stuff have nightly builds, its fun :D

A interesting idea, but not very practical.

Could you even imagine downloading a 30-100 Mb file every few days? The hassle of installing it?

Not to mention the continual strain on their servers and bandwidth.

I can understand that it is good for things like Linux builds and such that are open source, but a daily build just does not seem practical. They already have enough work as it is without having to compile the program every night.

i doubt that the Houdini daily builds are downloaded on a daily basis, it is just the compile of the app each day, they have about 5 different supported apps they post, for a few linux flavours and windows, hell even a weekly would be cool. I imagine Maxwell is compiled pretty regularly, all they have to do is drop it in a FTP server, you can even set up a perl script that will send the apps once compiled to the ftp folder. I doubt people here would download nightly, or even weekly, i think the novelty would wear off, but it would at least show progress :D
