Youn could export as OBJ, great for trimming fat off a scene, or delete the nodes from the hypergraph, if you know what the node names are, not bery familiar with that method myself though sorry, there's a script on highend3d called clean scene you could try, have to start maya without mayall loaded and open the scene(throw a lambert shader on every piece of geometry first and delete all the maxwell shaders from the hypershade first) see how that goes.

I find that the Maxwell plugin has a mind of its own and even if you turn off autoload it still loads. The best wat to stop it is to rename the mayall directory..

When you delete the two nodes does it get rid of all the maxwell cameras as well? I have scenes with maxwell cameras which I just cannot delete, vey annoying as maya seems to default to these every so often
