Clever idea Wendy :) it kinda reminds me about fractals that repeats themselfs into infinity, or a poltergeist cause and effect :P

I like that shiny golden like material you used there, but one thing i'm curious about.. since these objects are quite poly intensive unless you optimized them then the amount you have in your scene really gotta bring your computer down on it's knees bigtime. I know only from when i tested with just one copy of the table model loaded into 3dsmax that it about choked on that model, and you're using several..

Keep up the good work Wendy ;)

cheers for the comments guys - Max - i've optimized the models and anything you don't see on the image is not there i.e. the table at the bottom - you only see the top of it, so the extra poly in the legs e.t.c. have been removed. Heres the maxwell output on the scene:-
Num Meshes: 642
Num Triangles: 1118617
Num Vertexes: 722980
Num Normals: 673278

just added two more chairs though! - can't stop doing it for some reason!

Not happy with the chair cloth texture though - its moiring too much.

Good to hear Wendy, optimization is the way to go otherwise you'd be bald in no time :D it looks like you cut down the polycount ALOT there considering how many objects you use in your scene.

Hehe you gotta be addicted to chairs :P

Anoher note regarding the challenge, i'll be putting up a few more objects to use as you wish to increase the challenge and come up with even more creative solutions to win this. They'll be updated on the main post in this thread later today (i'm doing the conversion now of them) :) so check the main thread in a about an hour or so when i'm done, i'll post a new post here too that it's updated.

Alright people, now there's exactly one week left until this little challenge hits it's deadline, next Sunday the 13th before 21.00 GMT, that's 9pm or 3pm eastcoast US time. By that time should all challenge entries be posted in this thread. When all are posted then i'll assemble all those in a special voting thread on Monday and when that's done then we can start voting on the winners, there are Gold, Siler and Chrome awards being handed out at the ceremony. ;)

Keep on working on your entries everybody and good luck!! :D

Best regards

well - ran out of time on this one :( got looaads of 'real' work to do so can't really justify spending any more time on it - or i'll have to render up some food to eat for the next month  - [ so pulling out of the challenge ] - this is the final 'Idea in progress' and is as far as i got - managed to use most of your models Max :)

The idea is - its an artists studio with various things going on in it - had lots more to put in, but gotta do some real work :( - good luck to everyone else, hope theres lots to see on Monday.

Great work Wendy! thanks so much for your challenge entry and all the time you put into this. :)

I can fully understand you ran outta time due to work and even more work, you're probably not the only one Wendy that it happends to. It's a shame as you're piece is looking good. I hope you won't have to chew on some old rendered noodles in the coming months now :P

I'll add your challenge entry into the new final voting thread on Sunday the 13th with hopefully many other entries aswell :)

May the best man or woman win!

Great idea max, here's my entry.

It's a little simple but I only found out about this afternoon and won't be able to work on it over the weekend, so here goes.

Image

There's still too much noise but I liked the composition.

Studio lighting supplied by an mxi sphere with one of HDRI-Studio's images - http://www.hdri-studio.com/samplers.html - they're great and very easy to setup!

Thanks for supplying the models max - I think you should re-run this competition again soon.

Very nice Oz :D those hinge thingy's turned out great pretty good like that lit by a hdri map and when one's outta focus and the other is in focus.

Work took over your time too aswell as it did for Wendy, but not to worry. I'll probably be arranging more challenges and competitions once everyone got Maxwell 1.0 :)

Thanks also Oz to you for taking part in my challenge even tho you're very short on time now i'll be adding your contribution to the voting thread on Monday along with the rest hopefully being contributed.

It's my pleasure to supply models and all necessary to get the challenge in motion and to get people working :) it's always easier with pre-made stuff hehe and i had alot of scrapped models i had no direct plans on using for anything so this forum challenge was perfect. Keep your eyes open for future similar challenges from me.. ;)

I'm not quite sure yet ivox, it depends on what restrictions are set on the poll system in this forum, if you can only vote on 5 or so things at once then it might not be enough depending ofcourse on how many challenge entries are posted, if that's the case then i'll move the voting over to my own forum where i can adjust the maximum amount of allowed polls myself and make it easier :) but we'll see.. i'll first try using this forum and i hope it works better here hehe
