are there any other specific's example how many different camera angles and closeups to submit, is there a time limit on letting the renders bake or could I go home tonight texture them and let them render for 2 weeks and finally what pixel size/dpi would you like them at :P

Big thanks to all of you who jump into this challenge :D it's so fun to see and i can't wait to see your results :)

ivox: Thanks :) it took quite some effort to pull it all off but i hope it'll be worth it in the end. I won't take part in this challenge myself as i started it. I just hope my server is stable enough but i trust it handles the load well hehe

Why not take part in it, you aren't going to be the only judge.

Also you might want to change the rules, if you let people put the objects in complex environments then your objects will not have much to do with the render itself. I think it should be a studio setup with just these objects, perhaps multiplied in the case of the chair, but nothing else allowed, except a backdrop.

I got my cellphone to finish now first of all so i don't think i'll be taking part in this.

Why i put that rule there is because it would result in more creative renderings where people will have bigger freedom. Restricting it to just studio renderings would be like putting a big heavy lid on their creativity which is bad. But for another challenge then i'll have different rules where you only use the objects and nothing else. However i see your point tho Mihai, i know what you mean.

I think I will make some sort of a bistro setup, with plates and glasses and so on.
here is a another try on material, working with Rhino it's still a little hard to do extensive texturing, but we will manage:

Hey Max,

sorry to bring this up, but I was expecting things like that. :P :D ;)
Your models have some serious issues, not only flipped
faces but broken seems. And now I'm not sure if you can
fix those without having to spend to much time on it.

I'm wondering if there are just Rhino users out there ... haha. :D
Well I mentioned this because you said no physical edit
to your objects ... so I can't fix it for you. :P :P :P :D ;)

I can't wait to take part in this, I hope there's a lot of entries. Great idea, we should try to keep this kind of thing up even after the 1.0 release. Different competitions involving materials, render settings, render optimization, etc. Just to keep everybody on their toes in a competitive way, rather than just dinking around on your own, a little competition never hurt anybody.
