it is not the piano that it is bothering me but the wood floor and wood walls.

andronikos,

right - good points , I used the same wood material for all of the surfaces including the floor and only remapped the floor to give a slight banding effect - if this were a production rendering instead of a test , I would have to define the floor material more carefully and I would also like it to have it be a bit reflective which is not possible with the current material.

The material at the back of the stage is a combination of wood panels and ochre coloured sound absorbing panels in between the horizontal metal bands. (this is the combunation used in the actual theatre)

The other thing that's missing are the light scallops on the walls at each of the downlights in the balcony ceilings - I've been playing with reflector and bulb combinations to acieve these and have been getting pretty good results ... so much to do and so little time :)

thanks for the eagle eye appraisal, I appreciate your comments.

This is a fantastic image and the number of light sources is staggering!

I would only do something to give this image some contrast- start working the tone mapping or do something in post, it needs some shebang! I would so tone down the balcony lights to make the light more dramatic!

Overall, this is very stunning work! :D
