Hiya!

Fun to see my old thread kicked back into life again :)

Mark: Thanks, i appreciate your kind comments about my webcam model :D fun you liked it, i'll be re-rendering it again with the new Maxwell 1.0 to make it even better..

Tom: Thanks master :) the usb interface.. what's wrong with it ?! i know one corner on it has a slightly "wrong look" close to the cable but that just adds to the reality of a slightly imperfect used model in my mind. Other than that issue it's accurate down to the smallest detail of a real usb connector as i worked with the real one on my own usb webcam for reference.

Thanks again for your nice comments guys :)

Maybe I'm wrong, because I haven't seen 7 wire USB connector, yet and the metal part is proportionally short. :D

Doh you meant that hehe.. ok yep in that case it's true. They're normally just 4 pins, two wider but shorter pins and two thinner longer pins all made outta copper ofcourse. But that's quickly fixed. I'll do that for the final version ;) i tucked 7 pins into mine to just fill it up and make it look better, 4 pins just weren't visible in there. I'm sorry about that small bug in my model.

About that metal covering part, it's not short. That one is actually correct looking but i think it's more the perspective and camera causing it to look smaller than it really is. I'm not sure the pics in this thread are up to date with the latest updates i did a while back on this model. I'll look into that and repost if i have anything new to update with.

Thanks for pointing out the faults with my model Tom.

Max, your model is really nice and its connector must be as good as itself :D
I'm looking for updates ;)

Thanks Tom :)

And it's true that on the first images i posted of the shaded wires then the metal part of the usb connector is too short compared to the rest of the model but that's fixed in the last update of the model as seen in the rendering there. I'll dig out the most recent updates i have and post those in the 1st post so you can see properly.

Hiya MaschinenKrueger

If i remember correctly that webcam took just around 1 hour to render as it has a very simple light setup with just a flash for the Maxwell camera and simple surfaces. But i'm not 100% sure it was one hour but i think so. However it's around that time for this one (it's a while ago since i made this one heh).

I wouldn't take the time it took for this model as a reference for all type of models and scenes you render in a studio setup with Maxwell. The variables are just too many to give a well educated guess at the time without testing it first. And ofcourse the output resolution matters aswell, it's one of the variables you have to take into account.

If you're considering investing in Maxwell then also keep in mind i used beta 1.2.2a for this and the difference between that one and 1.0 coming out this month is supposed to be pretty big :)
