the ground is apparently not modeled but an image map, since the harsh and crisp shadows thrown by the cobble stones are still there where no sunlight falls, next to the glass bowl. theoretically the intensity of the shadows cast by the cobble stones should be equal to those cast by the vases, but the latter are much lighter.
nice rendering though.
