read everything i could find on the forum, but cant figure this out...

i have some lightprobe images (.hdr) i got from Dosch Design & when i convert them to mxi's, i get huge bright blue blobs at the poles of the sphere i apply it to (shows up very clearly on any reflective surface in the render).

the resolution of these .hdr files is 2048 x 2048 (if that matters).

the free lightprobes i found online did not exhibit this at all...

when i convert them in maxwell viewer, there is no blue.
when i look at the file in HDRshop, again no blue...

can anyone help me to understand what is going on here?
im getting strapped for time so any suggestions would really help...

thanks much.

Hi scott,

What is your Maxwell Render version?
Can you send a sample file (hdr and mxi) to maxwelltech@nextlimit.com?

Best Regards,
Tom

Scott,

I got your files and it's not an issue about the files themselves, nor Maxwell Render.
It's about mapping and you first have to convert your probes to lattitude maps.
You can convert them with several HDR utilities like HDRShop.
You will immediately notice that the blue areas will be gone because
they are off-map areas. So, you can apply the lattitude maps flawlessly.

Best regards,
Tom
