i think that it will be much wiser (i don't know about the technical part though) to have maxwell camera as a MODIFIER for max cameras , and not as a seperate entity....

just apply the modifier that will add the missing parameters on a pre-existing camera ..
that will also help transform non-maxwell scenes into maxwell...

and you could stack modifiers, so that the camera correction itself will work (as well as other modifiers ..)
With CLIPPING PLANES! Please? I sometimes have to visualize buidlings that aren't the size of warehouses. I'm not even going to attemt a small space without clipping planes.

by clipping planes, are you referring to near and far clipping planes of the camera, ie distances it cannot see beyond?

or more of a phantom object, ie hiding a wall to visibility so you can see into the room, but calculate it for reflections, refractions ,and bounced light?

i vote for the second one . . . it would also make render passes easier . . . for those who may want to composite . . .

do you mean something like Scalpel Max by Cebas? I wonder if it would work with Maxwell? I've only used it with Final Render and it seems to me that it does the kind of thing you ask...

Sorry all, this topic is in french but i'll sum it up for you.

To make it concise, some such lens exist in real world, just don't know if it can be coded in maxwell. Normally that should not be un-possible (correct me if i'm wrong) :D

Don't know the english word for it, but it french it's called "objectif a decentrement"

Yeah that would be really cool to get such a lens in maxwell. NL guys, any idea if this is realistic or not?

I am totally agree, you can do this type of correction in MAYA cameras, is just strightforward, but Maxwell doesn´t seem to understand that parameter, and it´s "crucial" for arquitectural rendering, I use it most of the time.

It would be a huge help to have rise, swing, tilt, and shift features with the maxwell camera... and it would be a great selling point for M~R.

If it's a standard shift lens you are talking about, then it's easy. The only thing that this lens does is that it moves the lens center.

This would be indeed quite useful, because in architecture the verticals often need to be pictured parallel...
