What's the recommend image size, and DIPs to get a decent print quality for brochure presentation?
I need to print a 11x17 image to be used in presentation.
Do i have to render it with -hd option? how long do I need to render? I have no clues, this my first presentation and I really would like to impress with maxwell.

Depends, of course....The larger the better, obvious - for image size up to approx. 2600 x 2000 you can render on ram (if you got 'enuff) otherwise higher res image require the -hd option, which tends to slow things down quite a bit...Go for the larger size if time permits (4000 x 3000), if not try a ps software like genuine fractals or something to scale up the image...Render time will depend on the scene and complexity, and above all, noise...So take a peek around the forum on how to reduce noise so you can cut down on render times...good luck!

For print resolution, your image must be corresponding the real size at 300 dots per inch (DPI). If you mean 11 x 17 centimeters, you will need to convert this first to inches and then multiply with the resolution.

Like:
11 / 2,54 * 300 = 1300
17 / 2,54 * 300 = 2008
(***I assume your units are cm, if they are already inches; do not divide them by 2,54)

So your image should be rendered at 1300 x 2008 resolution.
Also do not forget to add bleed areas for you image if not yet added.
It's not necessary to render this size with -hd if you have enough RAM.
For most cases, rendering big images with -hd is a faster solution.

i use photoshop to define the rez/size
CTRL+N and enter the dpi first, and then size in cm

For a 10x15 cm, the shop where i print use a Sony station that asks for 200dpi, but i use 300dpi for 40x30cm.
