When can we expect Maxwell to support layered rendering?
Our Animation studio needs to be able to render the background, characters, foreground, etc seperatly and comp them later. Currently we do that in renderman or mental ray and it saves SO much time on the backend of a project.
The problem is, if I render just those elements in maxwell, my character wont be in the backgrounds reflections or covered by its shadows.
I need to be able to render a complete frame broken down into different geometry, and that geometry broken down into different passes color/spec/caustics/shadow/etc.
Is this something that Maxwell will be able to do? I really want to be able to take the maxwell quality into our animation but for production purposes I need the layers. I can't re render a whole sequence just to change one characters self-shadowing. Its just too time expensive without it on a comped layer.
Thanks, I hope this is a possibility!
