truing again.. I've comp a LW HyperVoxels fire... not sure about... the rel hard part is to lit up the inside fireplace correctly...

I think it looks too cg now, the last one looked better.

Since we have the ability to use mxi emitters now, find a good lava texture, or create your own, break up some of those logs in smaller pieces (but keep the big ones) and add to some of those broken pieces this mxi texture, so you get a nice glow from the inside of the fire.

You're right.. those hypervoxels look sooo CG... hmmm..

I am going to try the method you discribe for the logs....the problem is also the flames... if I apply an emitter to the flames without an MXI texture, it shines pretty good, but the flames are too bright... and if I apply an mxi texture , then they look good, but the light they produce is too low...

I think most important first is to make good "braises" :) Like in that last real pic you posted, it will add much more life to the pic, and if you're using mxi textures for them, also give you more light. Then the flames can just be motionblurred colored planes, you can boost light with some hidden emitters behing the flames.
