Hello,

I would like to propose a change in the forum setup

1. Restrict new-topics and reply previlages to Maxwell license holders alone.
2. General public and guests should have only view-access to forum. (not new topics or replies)

Most importantly, I suggest we get some level-headed moderators to keep things from getting out of hand, and ban users if it becomes necessary. CGArchitect.com is a great example of a very lively but well moderated and friendly forum.

yes, totally agreed. rather than closing the forums i'd really like to see them moderated. i think that someone from nl should really take the time to answer questions and keep the main forum under control. if victor doesn't have the time to do so that's fair enough, and i can really understand that at this stage of develpment, but still i think that someone should.

This totally makes since, there's no need to have people who don't own the software posting stupid questions and just making trouble. If they have important questions set up an e-mail address where these things can be answered by NL directly.

A moderator is also a must, I've seen posts that are absolutely absurd and just degrade into insult throwing and flaming. There needs to be someone who's only job is to monitor this forum and keep it civil.

I think V-ray did it to stop pirate users getting access to the forum and wasting registered users time.
Maybe something has to be done since even searching here is a bit of a waste of time sometimes.

Jack, I didn't say that. Taking unregistered trolls and shit-stirrers out of the picture will certainly help improve the atmosphere. But as long as people who voice dissent or dissatisfaction, or even offer a humble suggestion (as I did) are treated the way I was, there will be a problem.

I'm used to seeing difficulties between users who are happy with the product and those who are not. I'm not used to seeing company people jumping into the fray with responses that range from flippant, to sarcastic, to patronizing, to malicious. As long as that dynamic exists in response to complaints, there will be bad situations.

I don't think there's need for heavy moderation......some arguments will take place from time to time.....this isn't CG talk

Just restrict posting to registered users, I think that's enough. No need for a 24/7 moderator staff....

You know, I have been snooping and reading buffos' posts from the beginning. He is a really nice guy and his name is Kostas.

In a thread from March 21, 2005 Jomaga asked for a new road map and Kostas replied "I did ask the same question before.. but no answer." Oskit's reply was "we'll provide it in a couple of days. Put your eyes into the web page soon."

Six weeks later when the C4D plug-in was released (I guess), there was discussion about a road map, which not only was never updated when Oskit said it would be, but was removed completely from the site. Going by the conversation in this thread, NL was unresponsive to Kostas' emails:

So how does a nice, intelligent, supportive user go from that to what Next Limit and several users perceive him to be today (a PITA)? It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that anyone has their limits of patience and why Kostas came to his. I leave everyone here to draw their own conclusions as to whether Kostas was treated with respect by NL. My conclusion is that this whole situation could have been avoided and it was up to Next Limit to take the steps to do so.

From February to May, we had a friendly and valuable contributer to this forum. Today, he is considered a fringe malcontent. This is so not right.
