Yes, but Tom... overconfidense is not good for business... we can't assume they are incompetent.

If they have something good, then I want to see it objectively.

Sure, You Are Right.

VRay is a very capable production proven tool. In the Architecture industry I think it is the most popular renderer. We will have to keep track of both these applications and others to come pending this years SIGGRAPH.

In the end we will all benefit.

One must test it first hand to really know??? i don't think the demo version has PPT, i'll check.

Wat about the capability of Vray to render 200.000.000 of polygons they promised two years ago?

As for VRay - using .vrmesh export I can render millions of polygons without the need of huge amount of RAM.
PPT is a very similar to maxwell - the only options I need to setup is lightcache subdivs amount and noise threshold.
But U cant stop render at 30 min automatically, so now I cant use it for animation. Still it's a very progressive method, in future it'll give the final battle to maxwell - who'll win? Time will show...
2 catch VRay users M~R has to offer much more, than it's offering now.

and there are no issues? It renders fine with any material? Any lightsources? No issue with placement of light sources?

From my experience with Mental Ray unless the scene is pretty simple, you always have some little annoying thing that you have to somehow fix or find a workaround for. Using FG, GI, caustics, glossy reflections, you're asking for trouble. So you end up spending most of your time fixing things. It's not only the time spent but the frustration involved. It's no fun.

The problem I see with Maxwell is really the incredible excitement it has generated, which unfortunately masks the fact that it's still not even ready!
How long have Vray, Mentalray, Brazil been in development? It's really not the time to start judging Maxwell, instead we should all try and learn as much as we can about using it.

but as says anouncement in Vray forum if Vray have new feature physcial sky and sun and physical camera, i wonder if there are any difference between Vray and maxwell. yes Vray is excellent render too. but i think it's difficult find best illumination to set environment include fake.

Only the rendertimes. :) Other than that, the PPT in VRay renders everything, point lights, light emitting geometry. But IMO PPT in VRay right now is nothing but a rendering toy. You can get unbiased renders with careful QMC settings with smaller rendetimes.

I do not want to spent time by analizing maxwell vs vray and who is winning now or will win.

I want to say that maxwells goal is a complete "real" render engine.

...do not forget that.

...and under that basis Maxwell has no competitors!

...keep on typing oscar, vic, ignacio etc... your crazy codes!

One last thing for avoiding misunderstandings:
...Maxwell must look competitors / learn / steal (in a good way) / and incorporated usefull features in Maxwell engine.

About Maxwell speed: ...need to be faster like everything else in CG industry!

...but:

magic QUALITY is there!
:D :D :D

i dont think slow time is problem with maxwell. as long as it come out the way i want it or the way i was thinking about it every thing is okey . :D .
Why I like Maxwell cause it work greet with my mind I think more about real life # then CG number. For example mantel ray dose not work with the way I think. who said mental ray is not slow ?for me it is .with one intl4 chep same speed as maxwell .

1-I believe if you comfortable with a program you will use it and nothing will stop you.

2-if you want to hack time $$$$$$$$ computer.

This is just an opinion
