Hi everyone,

I notice that Vray has a ppt option that behaves similar to Maxwell.

The question is how similar to Maxwell is it ?
Has anyone done direct comparisons (rendering the same image in both and using relatively complex scenes with dielectrics and metals) ?

I've seen a few tests rendered with it but nothing that fancy, it's a pretty primitive and weak implementation so far in Vray as i understand it and basically it's just a noisegenerator at the moment. But they'll be improving the quality and precision of it with time as always..
I couldn't find any pics on the web to show u :/ perhaps someone else can

bakbek,

Wow. Thank you for all these examples and for the trouble went through to pull them together.

These images look very good to me (lets put our Maxwell bias aside).

How do you find it working with Vray ppt so far ?
Comperable ? Better ? Faster ? Slower ? Worse ? the same ?

It's cool. But there are a lot of parameters to tweak still. And it doesn't do spectral calculations. And no physical sunlight neither.

This are not my images... i just seen them on the VRay forum. i'm not working with VRay since a bought maxwell some time ago. PPT was introduced only after maxwell came out.

From what i know... it is also slow, but results look good. that all i can say really. i didn't care much about VRay after maxwell - but now VRay 1.5 is almost out and with connections to SketchUP, Rhino, Maya and OLD MAX.

So things get HOT this months.

Vray is scheduled to have a physical sky and a physical camera too by the end of the year.

So far Vray is trying to match everything Maxwell does.
But I am still curious...
