Hello this is my first image post here…. As you can see the image doesn’t look right. I’m not to concerned about the noise since I know it will work its way out rendering longer

As you can see everything is blending together, I need white walls and white cabinets but I’m not doing something right

Any tips or pointer to get this image looking better would be great.

Thanks,
Mark

even though long time, leave a quite noise.

did you check your maxwell scale wih software you used unit?

and i wondering how you set glass's abbe number. set your value from 180 to 200.

Nice scene. What is the reflectance value of your white? An unrealistic value will create excess noise.

Thanks for the replies!

Jun,
I'm not sure how to set the units in Maxwell, but in rhino I'm using feet units. Also I don’t have any glass in the windows since I read that it sometimes causes more noise.

Mesh,
Yep I'm using a plastic shader for the floor (below are my setting) Thanks for the camera setting I will try them out. And play with the uv roughness.

Frances,
Thank you, below are my setting.

Cabinets
Plasctic Material
color:240,240,240

bump map used
bump Strengh:45
U:0
V:0.03

If anyone has suggestions for better setting/materials please let me know.

Thanks,
Mark

Here is the problem! Please, try to avoid high color values. Over 230 is very high, and it's not usual in real world!
See this post about high reflectance values:

Jomaga,
Thanks very much for that article!

Heres is an updated image 15 hours rendering 15 samples reached (800x 600 , reduced to 640 X 480 for posting)

I still have some way to go before I get the image right, and tips or suggestions are much appreciated.

I Guess your celeron is the main reason for this render times, with noise.

Just a tip for making materials, if you don't use a map in the glossy channel, then it's settings will be ignored and it will use whatever you set in the u/v inputs. If you do use a map for the glossy channel then it will ignore the u/v settings and use the map to control the roughness of reflections, with the 0-100 glossy setting controlling the overall influence of your map.

A good idea before starting on a complex scene is just to do very simple quick tests to learn how the materials work. For example how rough will it look at 0.1 u and v? How reflective is a value of RGB200 for the specular? What are good bumpmap settings?

OK, heres an update of were I’m at.

Mihai, I did try to test out the materials setting but I’m just having a hard time figuring them out to get the look I’m trying to get. I’m trying to get realistic looking white cabinets, but I cant get there yet.

Any suggestions are appreciated

Thanks,
Mark

Looks great. My only crit is that in most kitchens they size the tiles to match the distances. Is there anyway to scale the tiles so that they match up with the bottoms of the counters?

Most kitchens have this, some do not. Otherwise it is coming along nicely.

i find the render still blurry as if out of focus...

Thanks for the comments keep them coming!

Intuition,
I will keep that in mind, I’m thinking about changing the floor texture… the more I look at it the more I don’t like it.

Thomas,
Do you have an idea why it looks out of focus? Could it be my shutter and F-stop settings? I know it looks noisy but it’s taking me a long time to render until I build my new system.

maybe you should create a new scene and only copy and paste you current camera, then put a line of cubes and then render, like that you'll see where the focus is...
