You can also play with the 3dsmax's demo, to try Maxwell out. You can also use matador with XSI.

The XSI release must be coming out soon.

i guess because mentalray is so damn difficult with interior situations....you need insane settings to get a clear gi solution, throw in glossies and you are kaputt

I have xsi, i'm happy with mental ray, but it do not achieve work like maxwell or vray. Could somebody explain me why on all the forums where you find xsi users they just complain about users who wants maxwell and other renders to be accessible trough xsi.

Man! we are not asking for Mr replacement, we want other rendering softwares. Show me just one image out of Mr that looks like maxwell or vray. The best i've seen so far were done from alex york > two days tweaking + post prod so for me as an architect i really don't have that much time to make good images neither i get the money to pay someone during 4 days for an image.

So far Mental Ray is not abble to produce good images without a good tweaking, that's a fact. Vray can, maxwell too. Maybe when mental will integrate multibounce we will start to see things moving but it's not on xsi yet. Maxwell has a huge potential so does mental, but not in the same domain.

Sure mental ray in xsi is amazing but it does not correspond to many people that are designing interior spaces. Don't get me wrong, i just don't understand why xsi community is so closed to the idea of integrating other solutions. Where is 3Democracy?

And please could someone from nextlimit gives us an approximative roadmap from softimage plugin, that would be really kind.

xsi plugin would be very nice as thats what im working in at work and switching everything into maya for a maxwell render is gettin kinda tedious, (but still worth the maxwell results)

I didn't have time to read the whole thread, so excuse me if this point has been made before...

I am personally very disappointed that XSI users were told that you either pay for a plugin you can't use and get the lower ($395 at the time) price now, or pay whatever the current price is when the XSI plugin is released.

I sincerely hope the folks behind Maxwell will reconsider this and offer a discount to XSI users who didn't want to fork over $395 for a piece of software they couldn't actually use.

Even at $295 or $195 I wouldn't buy something I couldn't use. How many people paid for Project Messiah for the Mac and have NEVER actually seen a shipping product? What's to say the XSI version of Maxwell will ever see the light of day?

Sorry for a rant in my first post here, but this renderer looks very promising - I'm just not going to pay for it until I can actually use it.

As far as i know and about what is my personal opinion, i'm quite confident in nextlimit team. They told us already that xsi plugin was on the way (before end 2005) and every time they told something about plugin they did it.
I remember the time when C4D users were just crying around on the forum .

Anyway, I would be really happy to have a clear answer about the roadmap for xsi plugin.
