THE MAXWELL MATERIAL LIBARY (TRANSLATOR)

There is not a system currently for transferring maxwell material settings interchangeablly among the different software platforms except for manually posting your material settings (not the best solution).

The perfect solution in theory may be to have an overall maxwell material solution translator that creates some kind of easily transferable file type that can be exported out of take for example cinema 4d and imported into 3dsMax with the end result being a maxwell material that functions the same for each platform. The other part of this translator would be then to work in an archive manner such that in each platform a maxwell material library can be created. Whether this is in some other program (the translator) or the host platform it needs to be a possible solution so that you can easily transfer settings across platforms and also translate well within the platform.

I would be happy to hear other thoughts on this matter.

This is also a discussion in the cinema 4d forum but that one is distinctly about how this affects Cinema 4D. This discussion is for all platforms.

Good idea :) but i think it would be easier with a uniform easily readable textbased fileformat for shaders that can be saved and loaded on all platforms and into all programs using their plugins. I can see that developing a program to convert shaders with would mean alot of extra work which they need to put into other things instead first of all.

text format presets that you can load/save.Sounds great, but we'll have to wait standalone material editor. When we can do most/all texturing job inside maxwell GUI, I hope we will have something like that.
