Here's an exterior from a Sketchup model. I know its a bit rough, but considering I didn't need to do anything in the setup process, just export it straight to Maxwell, I'm not disappointed at all. I'm going to try it with different textures though.

Levels: 16
Rendering time: 14.25 hours
System: AMD64 3200+, 1GB RAM

WOW!! looks reaaly well lit..

But can 14 hours on 3200 justify it?
Maxwell has got to do something about the speed. eh?

Seems like the glass texture isnt rendering properly. How did you set the glass in sketchup?

I am having more difficulty rendering Sketchup stuff in Maxwell. All of my objects end up being only Glass. Do you knwo why?

Thanks. and keep up the good work! :D

did you use obj2mxs or 3ds2mxs or matador

the all glass is probably cuased by not running the group by texture ruby scrpit before running the 3ds2mxs export - it does nt seem to be a problem with obj2 but i havent tested it thoroghly yet.

nice start.....need your textures sorting out.

I just set it to render overnight. It was looking pretty good at an hour and a half. On the glass: I didn't set it up properly. I need to become more familiar with the 3dsmxs utility, specifically, the .ini file that determines texture coordination.

Again, there was no real setup here; just testing what a straight shot conversion/rendering would be. I can't get any other program to do this with hours of work.

Thanks,
Tony

This is what I mean about set up time:

Time to modify sketchup model: ~8 minutes
Time for export from Sketchup to Maxwell (using su2mxs plugin): ~1 minute.
Time for Rendering: done overnight, 14 hours. (but could be less if I limited the time to fewer hour(s) and let Maxwell adjust accordingly)

Thanks,
Tony
