well, when I was using the alpha, I remember asking if at some point Maxwell would have a Baking solution..? NL said yes...

Would it be possible to know the date approx... I mean Maxwell 1.0 or more like Version 2 or 3...

I ain't gonna live forever.... (aerosmith)

I'll go a bit further with that ... oh boy...

Looks like Maxwell has a greater future in Products & architecture visuals... coz I doubt cartoon & fx houses will care too much about Maxwell...

in other words, no baking..? no future... simple as that...; he he...

but I know there will be some baking features "at SOME POINT..."

I just wanted to have some roads for the " at some point "

I'm a relative newbie to Maxwell, but used to use Lightscape extensively for internal architectural shots. One of the great functions of Lightscape was that it had a solution file which contained all the lighting calculation on the surfaces, and then to render you got the raytracing at which stage you had the final image.....

This was useful because it wasn't doing rad. caculations for every single frame of an animations (just the raytracing part)....

Is this what we're talking about here? The ability to separate the solution with the final image....?

BTW....my boss is still salivating over the Maxwell images!

That's a good point archi_nick, because if Maxwell's mxi format actually holds the color value of each of the surfaces that would be a LOT better than traditional baking where you need to uvmap everything, even the surfaces without any textures, then save the baking out as images files then reapply them and render again.

If the mxi works like I hope, it would provide a great workflow and no need to waste time on all the uvmapping.....

I think it will work as you hope Mihai.... at the least... because reapplying all cooked textures always look like .... well...

.... a solution "ala" Lightscape is indeed a good one... but they (NL Team) might even have a better one in the oven....

yes , baking . very important . real time and architectural animation (cameras).
i need it , and i wait , hoping that people of NL think is a have on mind "priority" for this renderer engine .
Mental ray that is integrated on max and other softwares make a lot of
bugs when render to texture , and become totally necesary buy another GI renderer for having this type of ilumination .
I took maxwell , thinking on this . and of course for all what i was seeing that people was capable to do with it .

While waiting , standard ilumination , radiosity . But not enough .

Maxwell render to texture would be a big punch against vray competence , although i know dont like here talk about this .

Go for it .

So, is this a known issue?

Thanks a lot for your response, I will update and […]

did you tried luxCore?
