Any features you'd like to see implemented into Maxwell?

there surely must be a better control of bounces.
in the following pics there are two glass panes (120x60x0,4 cm)
the shadows in the first pic look okey.
for the second pic i only duplicated the 2 glasses and put it about 25cm in
front of the others. now this looks completely wrong.
maybe due to low bounce settings? (for such a scene a minimum
bounces of 4 are required to get correct results).
have to try with older maxwell versions.

btw. i let them render for 10min each.

I think both a forced low quality, and an ovewrride bounces setting would be really nice to have. Both are quite a time saver, when it comes to certain situations.

I know Maxwell is all about simplicity but two more parameters wouldn't be confusing and complicated to handle, and you always could just leave them on the default "auto".

deneb26, I think the dark area seen through the second glass is only that dark because caustics seen through dielectrics or seen in mirrors render really, slow.

(If there's something other than that thats bugging on the second pic, please, just ignore my foolish words. :) )

Whisky...relax. i understand your point and point of others. But when we had bounces people saying: If maxwell is trully unbiased and real why to control bounces?

Now you people ask for bounces. !

Maxwell's strategy is obvious to create the best and real light simulator and real physics rendering.

Finally just to say that I would like sometimes to be able to make maxwell a bit faster - not so "real" in order to finish my render a bit earlier or to achieve a more contrasted image maybe but then again Maxwell's philosophy is to stay real as promished.

I do not know if by having a render box named: Unreal Situations with glasses with controling reflections and full transparent, bounce controls, etc. will lead to: "Maxwell, another good renderer".

Sometimes I personally want to be able to control everything. But Also I want to just hit render and go for a drink and have my real kick ass interior ready with no sweat...so I do not know...

Let the MAN do his job. So far he is doing it right.

thanx,
Andronikos :D

..just to add that I do not want people to beleive that you should not post your wishes etc. But do it with a gentle way...

thanx again,

i let the scene render for 4h (i think it reached SL 18.x) but no changes to the shadows between the glasses.
beside this 'error' there's nothing abnormal so far.

I agree for the return of bounces control, same reasons.
And i didn't found a post in Wishlist that asked for removing it :?
If Maxwell really only want to do things in a realistic way, so remove the bumpmapping function for example.

na i want that lightray bounce till it drops to death. if you want less bounces make the materials suck more energy from the light. at least that would be the correct way to do for a modern render like maxwell. if you want total controll theres still mental ray and alot of other renders

I agree, but the 2 possibilities would be great, auto or manual

I would like to get an advanced mode for Maxwell with much more control than the simple and slow "autopilot". A disadvantage of Maxwell is for me, that an advanced user with experience can not speed up the rendering. The default esay mode is great, but I why not more control for people who like it. The easiest way could be some custom commands like in renderman. Advantage of Maxwell: nobody must use it, but could do it.

"Simple use of Maxwell" - some times if I read the posts "... noise ... " I think, the problem are not the parameter anymore, but now the geometrie and the materials.

If I could save time, I would like to learn some optional options - this is OK for a professional work. For seldom use of the renderer is the autopilot good enough.

So, is this a known issue?

Thanks a lot for your response, I will update and […]

did you tried luxCore?
