I posted a question in the render section asking how everyone is mapping text to dialectrics - I found, indeed, they weren't . Everyone has been modeling the text and applying it to the surface through various means - in MAX!!!! Does anybody have any Maya specific solutions to get text onto glass? BTW, I can't model my way out of a pere bag. But if that s the only answer , so be it... I thought you guys might have a wealth of alternatives.

Thanks!

Well... for example, one solution could be to "project curve on surface" (of course we are talking in NURBS), duplicate the surface , trim both just to separate the text surface from the main surface and do some lofts to join the trimed surfaces. Then convert all to polys to be rendered by maxwell.

Or maybe just using the trimed surface text (slighly separate from the main surface ) without any lofts.

Of course this is for complex surfaces, if you want text in a bottle just use the Non-linear bend.
