A few views of my updated model. Testing SSS and cant seem to get to grips with it!!.

looking good, are there emitter objects below the numbers and the numbers have a sss material applied ?

Yes, but I did loads of tests last night to try and be sure that the SSS was transmitting the light from the emitter. The white keys in the top two images are areas without the sss material and a key window in place. It got a bit late and I settled for something that looked OK but might not actually be doing what it should do!

As said before in a previous post by oscar i think, when rendering with emitters below objects to reduce noise try and only have emitters for light that is visible, maybe you could create a "1" underneath the sss 1 to emit light through that etc.., thus reducing noise throughout your image and increasing render time n quality.
