Yes, in Cinemaxwell at least. Apply the MXI you created to an emitter tag of an inverted sphere which surrounds your entire scene and camera. Apply another material to the sphere to define UV coords. Render.
Under MAX just add a Maxwell emitter shader with the mxi map to that inverted sphere. No need to check skydome, couse the inverted sphere would occlude that anyway.
