This reached 13 samples in 30 minutes on a
P640 64bit machine

But the Rendered image won't reach the desired look from
the preview window.

Is this a bug or should I let her go for longer?

Preview is not aimed to show the final image exactly about quality.
It's not an accurate solution and it's just "preview" as read. :D

Understandable

But I prefered what I was seeing in the Preview window.

I think your preview is just brighter (aside from the visible artifacts) . If you would wiat lond eneugh, the final solution would brighten up as much as your preview shows you.

I might be wrong, but this is what Ive experienced so far. Under lvl 16-18 the image can be much darker than the final result. If this noise level is accepatbel for you, just adjust the shutter or ISO to get a brighter image.

And here, another thing I want to say is; it seems like you played the sliders while rendering and now it doesn't show actual settings. So you'll be able to see a parallel output on next sample update regarding your new slider parameters.

I guess some patience are in order, it was just a test
but I was interested in why it didn't quite look right.

hi InThe City

you say you changed the sliders quite at the beginning, but they don't affect the output in the render-window until you turn on the 'maintain these values'-option. if you do so, it'll take 1 'iteration' to show the effect as it
shows up in the preview-pic.

hope this helps
