Thanks for announcing this Tomo!
With the mess of the holidays we failed to make a public announcement.

@ Gloomer: I have the same card here and could get a 4k render (of a very simple scene with just some primitives, to tell the truth). Are you using the latest version? Any big textures maybe? With tools like GPU-Z you can control the amount of memory used when rendering; could you check how much is it using before crashing?

Fernando

4k is about 2000x2000, as I tried. My problem is with higher resolution. Just tried another scene - render is in process, but doesn't start to write mxm image and doesn't show even preview image. So, looks like the problem is that render doesn't write mxm file for higher resolutions in some reason.

UPD:
render test for 2150 resolution is ok. for 2550x1912 resolution - crash.

So, something happens between 2100 and 2500 and higher resolution.

Hi gloomer,

With 4K I meant 4096x3072 (the standard is actually 4096x2160) but, I've been testing it again and over 2406x... my GPU stops for unknown reasons. It's not a memory problem, but something is wrong there; I already sent it to the developers so they can debug it.

In my case it's not crashing the driver (375.70); the GPU just stops calculating when it was supposed to save the mxi for the first time, but the render windows keeps acting like it was rendering.

Hopefully we will have a fix soon.
I'll try to keep you updated.

Best regards,
Fernando

new early build was released 9.2.2017

http://www.maxwellrender.com/betas/plugin/22

4.0.0.18
MAXWELL GPU
- Linux supported.
- OSX supported.
- Improved emitter sampling and triangle artifact solved.
- Fixed crash with emitters and instances with motion blur.
- Fixed Stack overflow on high-depth voxelizations.
- Fixed clipmaps issues.
- Improved BVH copy to GPU.
- Fixed memory crash with disabled BSDFs.
- Fixed crash when a coating is on a non active BSDF or when having a material with mixed active and non active BSDFs.
- Fixed Z channel through clipmaps. Normals channel has bad values in areas with no geometry.
- Fixed crash using default material in nogui mode.
- Fixed crash in scenes with no emitters (i.e. sky dome).

MAXWELL RENDER
- Fixed MXI batch processing is exporting channels when user unchecks the option to export them (in some cases).
- Fixed RGB numeric values displayed under mouse pointer (bottom status bar) have not gamma applied for bit-depth 8 and 16.
- Fixed switching from GPU engine, channels does not work on RS1.
- Software opengl DLL added to Windows installers. needed in some cases for old GPUs or remote desktops to show viewport.
- Fixed HDR sky changed to physical sky if using ortho lens, and emitters not reflecting on other objects.

ASSET REFERENCE EXTENSION
- Fixed Load of asset referencess for OSX

MAXWELL STUDIO
- Fixed layer transparency values updated wrong in interactive mode (GPU).
- In scenes in which the paths need a high number of bounces now it can be solved withouth affecting performance (GPU).

Whoa that's fast

New early build was released 20.2.2017

http://www.maxwellrender.com/betas/plugin/22

Time to switch to V4 finally ? Let's see... 8)

4.0.1.1
MAXWELL GPU
- Fixed bad MXI file saved when engine is GPU and normals channel is enabled. MXI backward compatibility broken due file format change. Older maxwell render are not able to open 4.0.1.1 MXI files.

MAXWELL RENDER
- CPU render engine performance improved about 10%. Now Maxwell 4 and Maxwell 3 has the same performance.

so, reflections and refractions are not supported yet or I missed something?
