On maxwell webpage is said:

Our aim it's that the gpu engine can be used to generate production renders. We even have a few things that work better on GPU than on CPU production. But don't expect the gpu engine being perfect from day 1. This is the beginning and a lot of things will be added.

Hey Luis, can you please tell me if the Softimage plugin will be updated to support Maxwell 4.0? Its the only thing that is holding me from upgrading, i know the software is EOL but it would be nice to keep the support on it.

I prefer this scenario than the story of a bad release (unfinished, or bugged etc).
Maybe they're simply late, but obviously won't tell, something that is understandable.
Or they recently made a few big improvements they need to polish.

I don't know, just trying to stay optimistic and positive, life is already harsh enough
