My guess is that you'll have to wait until launch. You'll need to pay for the upgrade from v3 to v4, so exposing a v4 beta wouldn't fall in line with the way they currently release their betas. The test version of v4 would most likely be the demo version (with restrictions) and not the official beta.
Just my assumptions...
I am excited though to try it out myself! The renovated gallery sounds like a nice feature as well! I find that most of the examples in the old gallery are missing assets or are configured in strange ways. We have some potentially new Maxwell users coming up in our company, so a base set of gallery materials would be really nice for them.
