When I hit render in 3ds max, scene is exported to temp.mxs and automatically opened in maxwell renderer which indicate rendering process - that's correct, everything render correctly.
But when I export it to mxs format and open in maxwell studio , then after hit the render there I see that spectral file for my IES maxwell emitters cannot be found.

When I want to see preview in material editor in maxwell studio - same happen.


As you can see there is incorrect IES lobe

I perform copy of file to better named folder structure

I also rename it to better name and nothing helped, still the same issue.

Of course I also opened scene which is saved in *\AppData\Local\Temp location after hitting button in 3ds max but same issue again.
Opening file with maxwell renderer has also same issue.

Can you try with one of those IES lights that doesn't have a + in the filename? Is there anything special about those particular ones? Is it like two lights combined in one? It seems the IES parser Maxwell uses has trouble with those particular IES files for some reason. Open it in a text editor to try and compare it with an IES that works ok. Sharing one of these non working IES files will help to debug what's going on.

As I tried with MOD54W.IES - name should not have impact.
Nothing like "two lights combined in one"

It's not about the name but the contents, you wrote you renamed that file:

So originally, it was one of those "+" IES files? It seems there is something special about the formatting in these particular IES files that the Maxwell parser doesn't understand. Do you have any ideas what is special about these? A new format? Some extra features?

You are software development company, You can dig into parser source code and debug it with file which I upload for You.
I expect you will come back with answer at which fields it crashed and prepare fix for it.
