still running 3.1.99.10 on workstation and nodes.

I recently reinstalled my workstation and setup with maxwell Beta from the start.

Using English Win7 64 with German and US keyboards, and Austria as Format/Location, non Unicode set to US English.

I can start and stop jobs on the windows nodes fine, but preview fails every time with the following error in the monitor console:
[28/September/2015 15:03:05] Requesting display...
[28/September/2015 15:03:23] Connection for preview reception.
[28/September/2015 15:03:26] ERROR: Error receiving preview data: The remote host closed the connection
[28/September/2015 15:04:14] Requesting display...
[28/September/2015 15:04:31] Connection for preview reception.
[28/September/2015 15:04:34] ERROR: Error receiving preview data: The remote host closed the connection
sometimes it spits out a bit more info like this, that is why I mentioned my system Local settings:
[28/September/2015 14:39:02] ERROR: Can't write file: C:\Users\localrender\AppData\Local\Temp\mxnetwork\monitor_KRAKEN\.
[28/September/2015 14:39:02] ERROR: Locale settings of this machine might not support this file name
[28/September/2015 14:39:18] ERROR: Error receiving preview data: The remote host closed the connection
what could cause this?

Same here on Mac OS X 10.11.1. I am using this "preview" as a way to receive and merge mxi files from the nodes. Then I just open it in photoshop from the temp folder.

thanks for the feedback.
Interesting to see same behavior on OSX.

for now I also reverted to the "old school" way of gathering the mxi off shared mxnetwork folder on nodes.

You are on mac but I'll still post this in case someone is interested, also you can for sure do something like that in OSX too.
if you always use the same nodes (you can of course make several .bats for different nr. of machines) it is quick to automate this with something like this, it is just executing one .bat then to get merged preview.

(this assumes you are not sending dependencies with any .mxi files as textures.. they will mess up the "copy *.mxi" as they go to the same folder on the node)

to gather the files of the network:(mxnetwork is the shared folder)
xcopy K:\rendernode_node01\*.mxi D:\coopTemp\node01.mxi /y
xcopy L:\rendernode_node02\*.mxi D:\coopTemp\node02.mxi /y
xcopy M:\rendernode_node03\*.mxi D:\coopTemp\node03.mxi /y
xcopy N:\rendernode_node04\*.mxi D:\coopTemp\node04.mxi /y
to merge files located in a folder:
C:\"Program Files"\"Next Limit"\"Maxwell 3"\mximerge.exe \-folder:D:\coopTemp\ \-target:C:\"Documents and Settings"\dk\Desktop\merge_test.mxi

Hello
Maxwell 3.2 here, windows 10 (and 7) and I have this error all the time. (ERROR: Error receiving preview data: The remote host closed the connection)
We have a very well configured network and renderfarm with many other applications, and everything works perfect since years. Only the Maxwell Distributed Rendering shows since the last few version this error. I have turned off all firewalls, moved even the manager to the main (local) computer, but nothing helps.
By some primitive scenes it works sometimes. In most complex scenes we could never get a preview.

hopefully there will be soon some soluton.
thanks
best regards
