Hi,

I often have to make linear lights using precise .ies emitters, but I don't know how to do it...I work with Rhino v5 and use Maxwell as a plugin.

My "improvise problem fix" is to array spot lights to create a linear light, but that's inconvenient and I'm not sure if it's accurate too. If I try to apply .ies to linear or to rectangular rhino lights I get some errors.

Here is an example of what do I mean.

Let's say I have to make a linear light with this .ies:

If I apply it to rhino rectangular light i get this error:

So I would do this improvise fix...:

Does anyone know how to make linear .ies lights in a proper way?

Thanks!

If you apply the ies to a plane it works as a linear but its quite slow, better to make an emitter and put it in a recess, It looks just as real. There isn't a precise option here...

You may need to move the axis of the plane back as though the plane originally belonged to a large sphere, its a hack, cant really recommend any of this.. I would use a standard emitter in a hidden housing.
