Hi Team. I am really desperate here. Today I booted my mac pro which runs the RLM server and could for some reason not start studio, I get the error message that maxwell is not licensed. This happens randomly and only when I restart my Mac Pro. Once in a while Studio can not find the license server. I did not change anything on the Mac Pro, just rebooted it. Firewalls are off.

Please help, cause I have a big render job waiting to be rendered.

This is the error message in Maxwell: LICENSE INFO
License found in standard license path : /Users/carstenquilitz/Maxwell/maxwell_license.lic
ERROR: - Error getting license, returned code : Communications error with license server
ERROR: - Maxwell has no valid license.
ERROR: - NO LICENSE PRESENT

and this is what the rlm debug log states:

This is what I get if I reactivate the license in Maxwell:

This license has been activated 5 times.

Server info received.
Floating license detected. Checking RLM License server...
RLM server already installed.
About to save license file...
About to validate license...
Validating license...

License Type: MAXWELL SUITE FLOATING

License file properly reread.

BUT, it still does not work!

ANY IDEAS?

Thanks

OK, as far as I can see, the problem seems to be port 5053...

Looks like that it is blocked somehow by another program. I changed it to 5054 and it seems to work now, even though I do not know what is going on here.

Any tipps on what to do as soon as I reboot? Will this happen now all the time?

And can I also install the RLM Server on a different Mac Pro just to have a backup, in case the normal Mac Pro RLM does suffer again from this port problem?

Thanks

Q!... who is now rendering....

And I think I mentioned this quite a few times:

There is absolutely no need to run the licensing procedure again because all that does is save a license file. The problem here is not that you didn't have a license file. You only risk of black listing your license if you keep activating it.

The problem here lies as you probably figured out by now that something is blocking the default 5053 port from working correctly, or some other app starts using it when you reboot your computer.

Ok, thanks Mihai.

I relicensed it only because that helped the last time and since I was really desperate, I did it again just in case it would work again. Obviously it didn't

I changed the port to 5056 now, I didn't know I could change it to 5056 and used 5054 instead. But since this did work and I could start my renderimgs, I left it the way it was. Renderings are done so I finally changed it to 5056 and all is good!

THANKS again for your fast reply and help!!!!!!

Cheers
