I see... I was after caustics, which when thinking would never show up on a liquid anyway..

but if yo want the light caustics to illuminate the inside and bouncing, atm this is not going to happen...

Hervé is right. It's the famoous "caustics from distant/small emitters seen through specular surfaces". Glass, water, milk etc doesn't matter...

The lighting is the problem true, here lit softly with hdri;

Sl25 watery milk needs tweaking.

Mihai, I just had a look at the NL preset and I'm sorry I was wrong about the milk presets, I remembered them as having opposing colours.. I was confusing them with something else.

If it's the same problem as with caustics seen through dielectric then they'll eventually show up with enough time.

Ill leave it running, all on single instances though. So currently all are between SL 23-25..

Only scene that gets remotely close to the realistic result is the one with sun radius 10, but still too noisy to tell for sure

Not exactly. It's the same limitation but it may end up different with Dielectrics and SSS. We know, they appear with dielectrics at around SL30, but it doesn't mean SSS would do the same. It's totally a different code...

tom, would it make a severe difference when I render this test in coop on multiple machines til SL 30 and above? or does it need to be rendered on one instance to be sure?

No, there's no difference. But, I don't think they will show up around SL30 like they do with dielectrics.
