Steps to reproduce:
1. Add a Volumetric Object
2. Start FIRE
3. Maya crashes

It renders just fine in Maxwell Render.

Maxwell 3.01 and 3.0.1.3
Windows 7 x64

Not crashing with Maya 2015 SP2, Maxwell plug-in 3.0.13, Maxwell Render 3.0.1.3. Maybe there is something specific in your scene?

Interesting.
There is noting in my scene except a volumetric object. Are you using Windows 7 as well? Otherwise we are using the same Software versions.
I also tried deleting my Maya prefs but it didn't help.

No, Mac OS X 10.9.3 here.

Just saw that I was still using Plugin version 3.0.12. Updating to 3.0.13 fixes this (even though it is not mentioned in the changelog).
