Maxwell would rather crash than exit gracefully after finishing a Maya-launched render.

Quitting, or hitting the red X on a PC -- either way Maxwell will crash.

If I wait a long time (maybe a minute) after the render is done this seems to diminish the likelihood of a crash.

Maya 2015, latest Maya plugin and Maxwell

I'm using 3dsmax, but this is something that happens to me since V3. In previous versions Maxwell never crashed. As you say it happens when render has stopped and trying to close the window (so it's not a drama as the job is not lost) but it's not very elegant.
I cannot see a pattern though. Sometimes it crashes, sometimes don't.

more likely if i hit the "quit" option.

It's not doing it today.

Pretty much the same scene. (I worked on it a small amount)

Yep, also happens when aborting a render.

I think it happened with and without fast multilight preview, but I'm not 100% sure of this.

Well, lately, with Maxwell 3.0.1.1, I'm launching renders from an old scene and it never closes after rendering. I have to kill it.

A render from a simple new scene closes ok.

i have problem with studio
sometimes when i launch viewport render and save the scene or stop the render ; studio imediately force closed and the scene crashed !
now i work with mxs references to avoid losing my work
