Hi !


Maxwell Render hangs very regularly, when I try to close it after it's done rendering and I have saved out the image file.

By hanging, I mean that it's doing some processing ( ~9% in taskmgr, HexCore CPU ) and does not close (I waited up to 2 mins). Taskmgr says that maxwell is 'not responding'.

Windows 8.1 Pro, Maxwell 3 ( up to date ).

I have reinstalled it, but the problem persists.

I have noticed a slight delay (a few seconds), but nothing as drastic as minutes.

if the ram maxwell consumed after you stopped the render (maybe the window was open for a long time?) got paged it can take a considerable amount of time to clear it from the disk after you close it.
it behaves like that with any program though.

on my internet machine, firefox sometimes takes minutes to shut down completely.

I got 64 GB Ram, only a fraction is used ..

Ok, right now, I've been rendering an image over night. Maxwell was done some time ago, 0% CPU used, 16.6 GB RAM in usage.

I save the image, goes back to idle. Then I go to File > Quit. Now it started to calculate something with 9.5%, used memory stays 'locked' at 16.628 GB, without any change since about 5 minutes, status taskmgr: not responding.

Strange ..

Could this be a Windows 8 issue ?

I can't get around this..

I'm trying to render an animation, so I'm starting each frame individually .. [ I got about 1100 frames to go .. ]

We found a bug closing scenes with MaxwellScatter creating tons of instances. There is a performance issue that makes the scene memory release too much slow.

We hope it will be fixed for the next release
