Some work I did a few days ago. The model is a toy car from the Model+Model series, I did some adjustments.

I think the headlights are great. Tires look a bit too perfect IMHO.
Mike Verta's toy car might be a bit too rustic for your purposes, but this thread reminded me of his fantastic render:

Critique:

The materials and model are too perfect. Even brand new, this toy would show manufacturing flaws. The headlights look great, but they do not look like a toy car's headlights. They look like a real car's headlights.
