So I have a new computer, with this card : AMD FirePro w5000 2GB .
When I try to load a scene from my older computer, maya (2014) crashes when I want to go to textured displayed mode (6).
I've copied all the textures to the new computers, to the same locations exactly (I made the same folder names and structures so it will be easier to continue working), and I don't have a clue why it happens. Latest drivers of course. The scene loads and all, but pressing 6 --> crash, any idea ?

Does this happen with any scene, or does it only happen with maxwell specific materials ?
Do you still get the crash if you unload the maxwell plugin ?

impossible to unload the plugin as it is in use... all scenes crash, some of them crash the second maya finishes loading them ! not even getting to the "6" part ... It is catastrophic ...

well I did another test, and after importing a scene, I've hidden al the MXS references. guess what? now I have 6 display mode... gonna test some more to see if that's the only problem....

well no matter old or new scene.... maya will crash the moment you ask it to show textures with MXS references present on screen. does that mean that the new computer I bought is worthless ...?
it's not possible to work this way...

the PC vendor replaced the firepro with a quadro card.
everything works now.
conclusions: I'll never buy ati cards again - no matter what the pros say - maxwell cannot use them... and raduc - thank you for your time and help !
