Hi Marton,
something in the plug in is really odd with sun /sky .

If I add a maxwell environment with a type of physical sky , the directional light(when set as phys sun in modo) does not actually become a maxwell sun .When it is exported into studio it is still a directional light and sun is disabled under the environment settings .If you enable the sun and disable the directional light the sun is in a completely different position.

Now if I delete the added maxwell environment and change the modo environment to a 701 physical sky , the directional light does become a maxwell sun. But i have now lost control in the plugin of the maxwell sky to alter turbidity etc as this just shows environment type physical sky where the ibl dialog is.Also no control over the sun other than using modo controls .

So in the first way I don't have a maxwell sun , and the second way I have no control of the maxwell sky.

It's been a while since I have used the maxwell sun/sky but I don't seem to remember it being like this?

Same issue. Me and photo have kind of discussed this in personal messages. It took me a long time to get it to work. And the maxwell sun will not overtake the modo sun. And when you import into the studio, lets say to send to ranchfarm. You have to readd the sun in studio and adjust it to match the modo one you had.

Hope this helps too.

The important thing is to make sure Physical Sun is on -> (Directional Light modo settings).

And when you select the Maxwell Environment on the plugin panel "Set Physical Sun" should point to this directional light (with Physical Sun on).

Were these settings ok?

Hi Marton , that was what I was trying all along as it was how I remembered it working .It was completely bugging out and now works…. as soon as I mention it on the forums its decided to work on a fresh scene :D .

Think I'm going to call that "Marton's law"

When you opened your project in the studio though, did it take the same sun settings as modo? Mine doesn't then I have to readjust it in the studio. The only reason I bring it to the studio is so I can send it to the Ranch

lol you beat me too it Cody , I've managed to bork it again . Sending you a scene Marton…

Cody it does seem intermittent as I did get it working correctly on another scene ….

Also I've noticed part of my issues is that I like to keep the shader tree clean , so when I add a maxwell environment I would usually remove the modo environment material if you do that your sun in maxwell is gone (disabled) this is what I'm sure I was doing on my first post with regards to this issue.

Photo, That is what took me so long to figure out when my sun wasn't casting rays the first time. I keep mine clean as well and deleted the environment material and couldn't figure it out but then realized that was the problem, I needed to readd the environment material.

I can see the problem now.

It can happen with scenes where north offset is not 0 and exporter converts the value to a number which is out of range in Maxwell. I will fix it.
Thanks for the file!

Hello Cody,

Yes it is fixed but I haven't had time to create the builds.

In the mean time you can do this:
make sure light north rotation value is smaller than 180 degree and bigger than -180 degree.

For example in the file you sent me it was 300degree. Subtract 360 (so set it to -60) and it should work.
