Hello Nextlimit

Under Maxwell V2 I am currently working with 2 Macs: A MacMini and MacBookPro.

I am using the Network applications to queue several renders on the MacMini. At the same time I can use Maxwell on the MacBook while out of the office.

Is my understanding right that with V3 and the Node-Locked license there are no Network tools and I would therefore not be able to queue jobs anymore while with the Floating license I could queue jobs on the server but would be unable to use my MacBook out of the office?

Is there any solution to this user scenario?

Thank you for your answer.

Hello

I have a few questions I'd like to know before I get v3:
I'd be interested in the floating license type.

- you can have 10 computers that have Maxwell installed but only 5 licenses when there are never more than 5 people using it at the same time?

- Are you always limited to your office space then? What happens if you'd like to have a home office day. Would it be possible to work with your laptop then?

- What happens if you have different office locations in the same country. Same as first question if you have 2 offices with 5 computers each, but only 5 of the computers might need it at the same time. Can you activate it on both locations?

- And if your office locations are in different contries? I read that you would need a different license, so you would need to place a seperate order for that license with a different address?

- What happens if the three activations are exceeded? I would find it much more practical if you could only activate it once, but deactivate as often as you need. And you would have to call nextlimit if your computer crashes so that you can't deactivate it. The reason for this is that I'd like to first install the license at home to test it, before I change the whole office structure (which is a big risk). Once I'm satisfied with how it works I'd like to install it in the office on our server. But I alread know that our server will be replaced early next year as it is getting old. So I already lose three activations. What happens if the new server crashes? Will you get additional activations by calling nextlimit? And will you get additional activations over time? I don't want to invest into 5 licenses when the might get unusable at one point ...

Thanks,
Kami

Yes, exactly.

If you have a VPN shared for all the locations you can use the same RLM license server, otherwise you would need to have different RLM servers in each offices. Please contact with us via the customer portal for more information about this.

When three activations are exceeded that license key will not be activated anymore. In that case just contact to us and we will proceed to send you a new key. We will consider adding a "deactivate" option soon.

Hello

I read everything carefully but I have new question. Please let me explain. I'm a floating license user. Today I installed RLM on my main PC in my office and next I activated my floating license. I have also 6 render PC's in my LAN and there are my nodes machines. Now I'm in my home and would like to activate Maxwell on my home PC. My question is how can I do it to avoid use second activation possibility from maximum three ? Maybe Should I take my home PC to my office connect to my office LAN activate and get back to home ? Would be grateful for explanations. I'm really afraid to use my three activation attempts :)

Hi Neb,

You have to consume another activation in order to do that, there is no other way (that is why there is a limit greater than one). However if you reach the limit of 3 you just have to notify it to us and we will invalidate the old license and give you a new one, so do not be too afraid :)

Thanks,
