well I was too curious to try before I leave v2.
First, it didn't work until I completely wiped out v2. never mind as re-install for v2 is easy if I decide not to upgrade.
But, more weird: When trying to launch v3 it says that it cannot find the maxwell3_root env. variable (and I've checked, it's there...).
So I just tried to "run as administrator" and it launched... However I'm not sure it will work as a nested app when I try to work with it from maya (gonna try soon)...

Yes that's very weird because V2 and V3 use completely separate folders, or are you installing in custom folders? I would reinstall Maxwell 3 making sure you right click on the installer and choosing Run as administrator. Then open Maxwell and look in Console panel to see if you get any licensing errors.

Hi Choo-chee,

Maybe you have different user accounts and the environment variable is visible only for one of them?

mihai - I'll try that later as I have stuff to complete...
juan - I'm the only user of this PC. maybe mihai idea will fix it.
btw after removing v.3 and re-installing v.2 I've lost the explorer's thumbnails for mxi files....

Is that a windows machine? Have you selected the option in the installer to install the v2 thumbs again?

Thanks,

Hi Choo-chee,

We have just seen that in some cases the thumbs library could not be properly uninstalled when running the main uninstaller in windows (it will be fixed in the next update)

Meanwhile, if you want to uninstall it manually, open Control Panel > Programs and Features (Add and Remove Programs on XP) and uninstall any instances of "Maxwell Shell Extension" (there are x86 and x64 varieties) that you find.

Thanks,

That may work, but an easier way would be to open Control Panel > Programs and Features (Add and Remove Programs on XP) and uninstall any instances of "Maxwell Shell Extension" (there are x86 and x64 varieties) that you find.
